The anticipated exhibition match between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis, scheduled for November 14, 2025, fell apart after Davis faced a civil lawsuit accusing him of assaulting a woman.
The civil lawsuit alleged Davis assaulted a woman at a Miami strip club on October 27, involving choking, grabbing, and hitting. These accusations added to Davis' ongoing off-ring controversies.
Due to the severity of the allegations, promoters cancelled the fight. Jake Paul responded swiftly, condemning Davis online.
"I didn’t want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account. I’m so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the undercard fighters, to my team at MVP, and to my team who worked so hard prepping for this fight."
Paul called Davis "an actual walking human piece of garbage" and emphasized that his company supports women and will not promote anyone accused of abuse. He also apologized to his team and other fighters affected by the cancellation.
Claressa Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and outspoken advocate against abuse, criticized Paul for hypocrisy in handling the situation. She challenged his approach and rhetoric towards the fight's cancellation and Davis’ misconduct.
Claressa Shields publicly called out Jake Paul for hypocrisy after he quickly condemned Gervonta Davis and canceled their fight due to serious assault allegations.
