SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé, originally from France and previously the Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was called and ordained on Thursday as the newest member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
The ordination was performed by President Dallin H. Oaks, with the participation of the First Presidency and other members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. This Quorum is the Church’s second-highest governing body, whose members serve as special witnesses of Jesus Christ and help oversee its global operations.
"I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ, and I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ."
Born in Bordeaux, France, in 1963, Elder Caussé relocated to Paris when he was 19 years old. He and his wife, Valérie Babin Caussé, both second-generation members of the Church, were married in the Bern Switzerland Temple in 1986 and have five children.
Since 2012, Elder Caussé has served in the Presiding Bishopric and previously as a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012. Throughout his ministry, he has emphasized compassion, service, and the strength found in the Church’s youth.
Elder Gérald Caussé, a devoted leader from France, has joined the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, marking a significant step in a lifelong ministry centered on faith, service, and witness of Christ.
