Former Angels Coach Sends Depressing Mike Trout Message

The last time Angels star centerfielder Mike Trout played in the postseason was in 2014. Back then, President Barack Obama was in the second year of his second term, Disney’s Frozen was hugely popular, and the mobile game Flappy Bird was dominating teen screen time worldwide.

During that postseason, Trout and the Angels failed to win a single game against the Kansas City Royals. The Angels’ last postseason victory dates back to Trout's rookie season in 2009.

Trout's Career and Team Struggles

Despite Trout’s incredible individual achievements, the Angels have struggled in the playoffs. He has earned three MVP awards, nine Silver Slugger trophies, and 11 All-Star selections, yet has only appeared in the postseason once in 11 seasons.

This lack of playoff experience has caused a generational talent to be somewhat lost among the league’s top players.

Comments from Former Angels Coach

“He was the best player out there, and he was so young and he had all the tools, the passion for the game. He was Mike Trout and it kind of disappeared, which is sad,” said former Angels third-base coach Dino Ebel to The Athletic.
