Poppies are back for Remembrance Day
The Royal Canadian Legion’s national poppy campaign is back, supporting veterans and their families.
The campaign runs from October 31 to November 11, raising money for Canada’s veterans and their families.
History of the Poppy
The legion adopted the poppy as a symbol to commemorate the service and sacrifices of fallen soldiers in 1921, inspired by
John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders Fields”.
Getting a Poppy
Poppies are given out freely to anyone who wishes to wear one, with the legion asking for a donation to the Poppy Fund.
