66-year-old Completes 200 Marathons in 200 Days

A 66-year-old retired banker, Steve James, has become the first man over 60 to cover the entire coastline of mainland Britain on foot.

He completed his 200th marathon in 200 days, finishing the 5,240 miles along the British coast in Topsham, where he began on 16 April.

“It’s been months of pushing my body to its limits. I’m proud, I’m exhausted, and I can’t quite believe I’ve done it.”

Steve James, who lives and trained on Dartmoor, started this challenge to see if he could do it, and is now proud to have achieved it at the age of 66.

He experienced various weather conditions and physical aches, but was greeted by friends and family at the finish line.
