The Missouri Department of Transportation is calling for safer driving practices as roadway fatalities in Missouri continue to rise, with over 700 deaths in 2025.
According to MoDOT, more than half of the vehicle occupants killed were unbuckled, and distracted driving is a leading cause of crashes, with 106 lives lost in 2024.
The effort to promote safe driving coincides with the state's 9th annual Buckle Up Phone Down Day on October 29, which encourages safe behavior behind the wheel.
