President Emmerson Mnangagwa was forced to conclude his State of the Nation Address in near darkness due to a power outage at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden.
The 83-year-old President was addressing legislators and top government officials when the outage occurred. An aide used a torch to illuminate Mnangagwa's notes, allowing him to complete his speech.
This incident is not the first of its kind, as a similar power cut plunged Zimbabwe's parliament into darkness in November last year during Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube's budget speech.
Moments after he concluded, power was restored.
