Saudi Railway Company and Ericsson Partner on 5G Technology
The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ericsson to trial 5G technology across its rail network.
The partnership aims to modernize operations and improve passenger connectivity by deploying equipment that supports enhanced communication, train control, and safety.
- Real-time video streaming
- IoT connectivity
- High-speed passenger broadband
The initial deployment will cover one route, and a dedicated innovation centre will be established to trial and validate 5G applications.
Ericsson will deploy kit supporting enhanced communication, train control and safety across SAR’s lines.
