The government of President Javier Milei emerged victorious from Sunday’s legislative election, a crucial test for the two years remaining in his term.
La Libertad Avanza secured the most votes nationwide, with 40.84% of the vote, and even won Buenos Aires province, a Peronist stronghold.
“How beautiful violet looks on the country,”
President Milei said, referring to his party’s color, in a brief burst of euphoria after the results were announced.
The Peronist alliance came in second with 31.67%, while Provincias Unidas failed to gain traction.
