Positive Results from Structured Literacy
Erica Stanford has released data on new school entrants, showing promising results. 58% of students are at or above expectations, up from 36% in Term 1. Additionally, 43% of students exceeded expectations in Term 3, more than double the Term 1 rate.
Māori students have also seen an increase in performance, with more students meeting or exceeding expectations.
These are incredibly pleasing results, and so early on.
The progress made so far is notable, and it is hoped that Erica Stanford will continue as Education Minister to see this progress through. Even opponents are acknowledging the improvements, with some claiming it was their idea.
