These high-risk jobs may fuel hidden breast cancer

High-Risk Jobs and Hidden Breast Cancer

Many immigrant women in the United States may be at risk of developing breast cancer due to chemical exposure at work, according to a new study.

The research, led by Silent Spring Institute and published in the Journal of Exposure Science & Environmental Epidemiology, examines the link between job-related chemical exposure and breast cancer risk for women born outside the U.S.

The study aims to understand if certain types of work contribute to higher breast cancer rates among immigrant women after moving to the U.S.

Authors from Silent Spring, UC Berkeley, and UC San Francisco collaborated on the study.

Author's summary: Immigrant women's jobs may increase breast cancer risk.
