Cornwall invites Via Rail representatives to address council

Cornwall Council to Meet with Via Rail Representatives

Cornwall city council has invited Via Rail representatives to address the council regarding a pilot project that was put on hold due to backlash.

The council agreed to proceed with advocacy against potential Via Rail cuts and operational changes, and a resolution was supported on October 14 to invite a Via Rail representative to address the council.

Mayor Justin Towndale will initiate a meeting with the president and CEO of Via Rail, which will be the second meeting in seven years.

"You would have been better off talking to a wall,"

said Claude McIntosh, recalling the last meeting, where Via Rail showed no interest in their concerns.

Cornwall council joins a growing list of municipalities seeking to discuss service levels with Via Rail.
