The Connected Chef, a nonprofit organization, has launched a new fresh market and community food hub in Woodside, Queens.
On October 23, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the opening of the new location at 37-31 58th St. This site will serve as a weekly market and distribution center, providing Queens families with access to fresh produce at discounted rates.
Founded by Kim Calichio and Omar Bravo-Pavia five years ago, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Connected Chef has distributed over 5 million pounds of food and served more than 60,000 families in Queens.
The new space is described as the first "fresh market and community food hub" in Queens.
