2 Pocono Resorts to Close, Resulting in 124 Layoffs
The Club Wyndham Shawnee Village and the WorldMark Shawnee Village, two resorts in the Poconos, will close, according to a recent filing with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry.
Travel + Leisure Resort Development Inc. filed a WARN notice, informing the state of the planned closure, which will result in 124 people being laid off. The layoffs are expected to begin on December 31 and be largely completed by January, with additional layoffs taking place by April 7.
A temporary skeleton crew will remain employed to maintain the property pending its sale. The two Wyndham-branded resorts share the same land, accommodations, and amenities.
No official statement has been provided by the company regarding the reason for the closure.
