Elkhart Schools To Consolidate Buildings
Superintendent Larry Huff announced that Elkhart Community Schools is preparing to consolidate some of its buildings due to declining enrollment, rising operational costs, and state funding changes.
This decision was made during his annual State of the District address on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
To address the issue, the school board has authorized a consolidation study that will examine between two and four schools.
A framework for decision-making is expected by the end of the year, with final recommendations potentially reaching the board in spring 2026, and implementation could begin that fall.
