Public Meeting on Sleepy Creek Flooding and Erosion
The Morgan County Commission is hosting a Public Scoping Meeting on October 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the courthouse to prepare a Sleepy Creek Watershed Protection Plan.
Organizers aim to identify flooding and erosion trouble spots and gather concerns and suggestions from landowners in the Sleepy Creek watershed.
- Sleepy Creek flows north along the base of Sleepy Creek Mountain on Morgan County’s eastern boundary.
- The watershed includes 93,000 acres of land and 42 miles of creek flow.
- Most of the watershed (69,000 acres) is in Morgan County, with 13,000 acres in Federick County, Va.
