A group of Parksville property owners are lobbying for an exemption from new short-term rental laws in B.C.
New rules state that short-term rentals must be in the owner's principal residence and one secondary suite or accessory unit, such as a laneway house.
The Resort Drive Advocacy Group was meeting with Parksville Mayor Doug O’Brien to discuss the issue.
Judy Thomas, an owner who manages several units in Oceanside Village Resort, represents some owners of detached homes and units built under municipal tourism zoning over the past 15 years.
The group is seeking an exemption due to their investments in tourism-zoned developments.
