Trump Commutes George Santos' Prison Sentence
President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he is commuting the prison sentence of former Congressman George Santos.
In a social media post, Trump explained that he considered the case of Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal, who falsely claimed to be a Vietnam veteran.
"This is far worse than what George Santos did, and at least Santos had the Courage, Conviction, and Intelligence to ALWAYS VOTE REPUBLICAN!"
Trump also stated that Santos has been "horribly mistreated" while in solitary confinement for long stretches of time.
The president's decision was made out of pity for Santos' situation.
