Arrest of Muroc Joint Unified School District Employee and Wife
A Muroc Joint Unified School District employee and his wife were arrested on alleged child abuse charges related to three children under 14.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office reported that 38-year-old Matthew James and his 35-year-old wife, Brittany James, were taken into custody by Mojave/Boron substation deputies on October 14, 2025.
The arrest followed a report of possible child abuse in the North Edwards area, where deputies identified three victims of suspected child abuse under 14 years old.
The juveniles were taken into CPS protective custody. Matthew James is a Muroc Joint Unified School District employee.
