Deputies Arrest 18-Year-Old in Ridgecrest Sexual Assault Investigation
An 18-year-old man was arrested on Friday in Ridgecrest following a sexual assault investigation, said deputies.
On October 17, 2025, at around 11:30 a.m., Kern County Sheriff's deputies, alongside investigators from the Kern County District Attorney’s Office, executed a search warrant in the 5200 block of Nolina Avenue.
The operation aimed to arrest 18-year-old Elijah Cox, wanted for multiple felony charges related to a sexual assault investigation.
- During the search, deputies found the home in poor condition and deemed it uninhabitable.
- Two juveniles were removed from the home for their safety.
- The children's parents, Bobbi Smith, 39, and Kevin Smith, 62, were released at the scene pending child neglect charges.
Cox was arrested on a felony Ramey warrant and booked into Kern County Jail.
