Mayo Clinic to Leave Most Medicare Advantage Networks

Mayo Clinic will become out-of-network for most Medicare Advantage plans from UnitedHealthcare and Humana next year.

According to Christopher Snowbeck of The Minnesota Star Tribune, this change will affect tens of thousands of beneficiaries in Minnesota, who will need to find alternative insurance coverage to retain access to Mayo Clinic.

Mayo Clinic will go out-of-network next year for most Medicare Advantage plans from two of the nation’s largest health insurers.

Neither Mayo Clinic nor the insurance companies provided explanations for this change. However, officials noted that Mayo is already out-of-network nationally with most Advantage plans, a privatized form of Medicare coverage.
