KEY WEST’S HOMECOMING TRADITIONS TURN 75

Key West's Homecoming Traditions Turn 75

Seventy-five years have passed since the first homecoming tradition began. The world has changed significantly, with the election of a dozen presidents, wars, and the evolution of music from sock hops to hip hop.

The differences between the world of 1950 and today's high school students in 2025 are vast. In 1950, TV was in black and white, schools were segregated, and Baby Boomers were still infants.

Despite these changes, Key West High School's football team will continue a 75-year tradition this week with their annual Homecoming game. The 75th Homecoming queen, voted by her fellow students, will be crowned during halftime.

The island still treasures its hometown traditions, uniting high school students of 1950 and 2025.

Author's summary: Key West's homecoming traditions celebrate 75 years.
