Why I Still Love Newspapers
I am a week late to this topic because I wanted to share my experiences of being in Iraq 20 years ago with the brave men and women of Georgia's 48th Brigade Combat Team.
Last week was National Newspaper Week, which holds personal significance for me. As a columnist, I have the best job in the world, getting to share my thoughts with readers each week.
I've been doing this for almost three decades and have formed lasting connections with regular readers, despite never meeting them in person. They have been with me through good times and bad, offering constructive criticism when needed.
Reader engagement is a vital part of my job, and I'm grateful for the feedback. If I ever make an error, I'm reminded that my column is being read through the mail I receive.
