ESPN Reporter Apologizes for Hurtful Question
An ESPN reporter, David Newton, has issued an apology for a question he asked Carolina Panthers receiver Xavier Legette that sparked backlash.
During a media scrum, Newton asked Legette,
"The Cowboys are always America's team. Did you grow up following them or anything like that?"Legette replied that his dad was a Cowboys fan when he was little.
Newton then said,
"I figured he won't be this week."This comment was particularly hurtful as Legette's father passed away in 2019.
The incident has prompted Newton to issue an apology for his insensitive question.
