Phoenix experienced record-breaking weather on Saturday, with 0.7 inches of rain falling at Sky Harbor Airport.
The previous rainfall record for October 11 was set nearly a century ago, with 0.3 inches of rain. According to Gabriel Lojero, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service,
“Most areas got anywhere between a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rainfall with some areas — isolated areas — over an inch of rain”.
The heavy rainfall did not hit the areas of Globe and Miami, where intense flooding caused devastation last month. However, a flood watch has been issued for Phoenix, extending to Sunday night.
