Opening of New Uvalde School Marks "Bittersweet Day" for Families and Town
Legacy Elementary, which replaces Robb Elementary, where 19 students and two teachers were killed in a mass shooting in 2022, will welcome students on October.
Nearly 3½ years after a gunman shot and killed 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, a new school built to replace the site of the shooting is complete and ready to welcome students.
Uvalde held a public ceremony to introduce the school to the community, with some survivors and families of the victims attending the event, having earlier been given a private tour.
