Brest Reactor Nears Assembly Milestone
The final reactor shell and core basket casing for Russia’s lead-cooled BREST-OD-300 have been delivered to the Seversk site.
The Brest unit aims to demonstrate closed fuel cycle technology, with installation of the reactor’s key components set to be completed by year-end.
- The fourth and final metal shell of the peripheral cavity for the lead-cooled Brest-OD-300 fast neutron reactor has been delivered.
- The internal casing of the core basket has been delivered to the construction site at the Siberian Chemical Combine in Seversk, Tomsk region.
Brest (Bistrii Reaktor Estestvennoi-bezopasnosti co Svinstovim Teplonositelem – Fast Natural-safety Reactor with Lead Coolant) is part of the pilot demonstration power complex.
