An 87-year-old man, Michael Regan, died after a series of falls that started when he fell outside his home while checking the heating oil levels.
He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital on January 11 this year, after being found lying on his driveway by his sister.
“Unbeknownst to me, he went outside to check the oil level in the tank with a view to reordering. It was particularly cold with a very sharp frost that morning.
His wife, Catherine, stated that she expected him to return home the next day, but unfortunately, he sustained a head injury after falling twice during his time on the ward.
An inquest into his death was held at the Norfolk Coroner’s Court.
