Surfers spend the snow day catching waves

As a big snowstorm covered the East Coast of the United States, surfers in the Northeast were stoked to find waves at the usual ice-cold temperatures.

"You know, I was just lying in bed, and I was like, 'I'm so bored,'" said 17-year-old surf enthusiast and student, Matty Wahlers. "Then I looked out the window and I saw the wave, and I was like, 'That's the perfect wave.'"

Despite the freezing temperatures, the surfers didn't let it deter them. They bundled up in their warmest gear and hit the waves.

"It's all about the mental game," said 23-year-old pro surfer, Mike Lanza. "You gotta be willing to push yourself, no matter what the conditions are."

For the surfers, it was a day to forget about the snow and just catch some waves. And it didn't matter that it was cold, as long as they had their surfboards in the water.
