Shields
A shield is a defensive item that can be equipped to block or reduce damage. Each shield has a value for the shield bonus, which reflects the amount of damage reduction it provides. Shields may have a single handed or two handed stance, and some shields can be worn in either stance.
Some shields are a one-time purchase, while others can be crafted.
Shield Bonus
The shield bonus is the amount of damage reduction a shield provides. It can be calculated as follows:
- With a shield, the variable AC is calculated as AC = Base AC + Shield Bonus.
For example, if a character's Base AC is 10 and they are wearing a shield with a Shield Bonus of 2, their AC would be 12.
Shield Stance
Some shields are one-handed, while others are two-handed. The choice of shield depends on the stance of the character.
If a character uses a one-handed stance, they can equip a one-handed shield. If they use a two-handed stance, they can equip a two-handed shield.
Shield Types
There are two main types of shields: steel shields and wooden shields.
Steel shields are made of steel and provide more damage reduction than wooden shields.
Wooden shields are made of wood and provide less damage reduction than steel shields.

Some shields can be crafted using the forge.
