Tore Tottenham to shreds: 'Extremely poor' performance from Spurs against Arsenal

Mauricio Pochettino's team were easily beaten by their London rivals in a 4-2 defeat.

The Argentine boss was left fuming after watching his team's 'extremely poor' display against Arsenal at the weekend.

Spurs, who were without the injured Harry Kane, had a disastrous day in front of goal and were torn to shreds by the Gunners.

'We were extremely poor in the way we played,' Pochettino said.

'It was a very, very difficult game for us and we didn't deserve to be in the game at any moment.

'But the most important thing is to learn from our mistakes and move forward.'

Spurs struggled to cope with Arsenal's pace and movement, conceding early goals through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

David Bentley, a former Spurs midfielder, was critical of the team's performance on Twitter.

'What a disaster #COYS' he wrote.

Former Spurs striker Chris Sutton was also scathing in his assessment of the team's display.

'What a performance from Tottenham,' he said on Match of the Day.

'That's a team that is in trouble.'

Pochettino's team will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Premier League leaders Liverpool at Wembley next week.

But the Argentine boss knows that his team have a lot of work to do after their embarrassing defeat at the weekend.
