Betfred Super League

The Betfred Super League is a professional club rugby league competition in the northern hemisphere. It is contested by thirteen clubs from England, France, and Scotland. The competition is the top-level professional club competition in the Northern Hemisphere, below the Challenge Cup in the league pyramid.

The competition began in 1895 as the Northern Rugby Football Union Challenge Cup, the first national rugby league competition in the world. It was renamed the Super League in 1996. In 2020, the competition was renamed the Betfred Super League after Betfred signed a five-year deal to sponsor the competition.

The Super League is divided into two conferences: the Super League Qualifiers and the Super League Championship. The top four teams in the Super League Championship qualify for the play-offs, which culminate in the Super League Grand Final.
