The Sacramento Kings have waived Isaac Jones to clear space on the roster for the signing of Precious Achiuwa.
At 4:52 pm, the Kings officially signed Achiuwa and waived Jones, as confirmed by a team press release. Earlier, at 9:17 am, Shams Charania of ESPN reported that the team had agreed with free agent forward/center Precious Achiuwa on a one-year, minimum-salary deal. To accommodate Achiuwa, second-year forward Isaac Jones was expected to be waived.
At 26 years old, Achiuwa began his NBA journey with the Miami Heat as a first-round pick. He was traded to the Toronto Raptors in the 2021 offseason as part of the Kyle Lowry sign-and-trade deal. After spending over two seasons with Toronto, he was traded to the New York Knicks in December 2023 alongside OG Anunoby.
Achiuwa spent a season and a half in New York before signing a non-guaranteed contract with the Miami Heat this fall, but he did not make their regular season roster due to luxury tax considerations.
