BBC Reportedly Considering Holly Willoughby for Strictly Host Role
According to former BBC One Controller Peter Fincham, television presenter Holly Willoughby may be poised to become the new host of Strictly Come Dancing following the announced departures of Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.
Willoughby, once regarded as the "golden girl" of ITV, gained widespread popularity through her roles on This Morning and Dancing On Ice. Fincham claims to have heard the news from an industry contact in an unlikely setting.
“My hairdresser also cuts the hair of a well-known channel controller,” Fincham said. “What’s said in Harry’s the hairdresser stays in Harry’s. But he says with great confidence that Holly Willoughby will take over.”
If true, this move would mark a high-profile comeback for Willoughby, 44, who left This Morning in 2023 after 14 years amid heavy media attention. Her departure followed the controversy surrounding her co-host Phillip Schofield, who admitted to an affair with a younger male colleague and deceiving ITV executives and others about it.
Since leaving ITV, Willoughby has appeared alongside Bear Grylls in Netflix’s Celebrity Bear Hunt, which was not renewed for a second season.
