Pop star Geri Halliwell and her husband, Christian Horner, former Red Bull F1 team principal, may have to dismantle their oak-framed pergola and gazebo. These structures were built without planning permission in the garden of their upscale countryside home.
The couple lost their recent planning appeal concerning these additions, which were erected next to their swimming pool. Authorities may now enforce their removal due to unauthorized construction.
Planning official Forrest Childs highlighted in the refusal notice that the developments negatively affected the previously "unspoilt" view toward a historic church near their property.
"Both structures are located between the grade II listed house and grade I listed Church. The Conservation Officer has raised concerns over the scale, appearance and positioning of the pergola."
The Conservation Officer expressed worries about how the size and placement of the pergola spoil the sightline and character of the heritage site.
Summary: Geri Horner and Christian Horner’s unauthorized garden structures have led to a planning dispute due to their adverse impact on the historic church’s view, risking forced removal.
