Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have started door-to-door enumeration in all 234 assembly constituencies across Tamil Nadu as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This process commenced amid strong opposition by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
The house-to-house revision will take place from November 4 to December 4. Before starting fieldwork, BLOs underwent a brief training session to streamline the exercise.
BLOs will collect the filled enumeration forms during their visits and provide electors with an acknowledgment copy of the form for their records.
“If BLO finds that any house is locked or closed, the officer will make three visits. Electors may also download their enumeration forms and submit the filled-in forms online,” stated an official from the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office.
In addition to door-to-door visits, voters have the option to file enumeration forms online.
The Tamil Nadu electoral roll revision starts with door-to-door enumeration by BLOs, ensuring thorough voter registration despite opposition and enabling online form submission.
