The University of Toronto community will come together on November 11 to observe Remembrance Day, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Events are planned across all three campuses to honor soldiers and veterans from both World Wars and other conflicts. All members of the U of T community are invited to participate.
Flags on all campuses will be lowered to half-mast to recognize the service of U of T students, faculty, staff, and alumni who have served.
The Service of Remembrance will be held at Soldiers’ Tower. The program begins with a carillon recital by composer-performer Naoko Tsujita at 10:10 a.m., followed by the official ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m.
The ceremony includes:
“In Flanders Fields,” written by U of T alumnus and physician John McCrae.
This Remembrance Day highlights the enduring significance of honoring those who served and the sacrifices made in past conflicts.
Would you like me to include information about events at the Scarborough and Mississauga campuses as well?
