England manager Thomas Tuchel has announced his squad for the final World Cup qualifying matches, confirming that 22-year-old Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has received his first senior national team call-up.
Scott, originally from Guernsey, has been a standout performer for both club and country. He played a major role in England’s Under-21 team that triumphed at the European Championship this summer.
Alex deserves to be with us. I first saw him closely in the Under-21 Euros, where he was excellent alongside Elliot Anderson in midfield and played a huge part in winning the title.
Since then, he has stepped up, becoming a regular starter for Bournemouth, who are performing above expectations. He’s earned this call-up through his own performances. He’ll be given a number eight role, and we hope he’ll prove us right and show his quality and character.
I just wanted to say thank you. Obviously, it’s a very proud moment for me. I can’t wait, and I want to thank everyone for helping make it happen.
Scott’s teammates at Bournemouth applauded the announcement, celebrating his achievement in a video shared by the club.
Alex Scott’s first England call-up under Thomas Tuchel marks a milestone for the young midfielder after standout performances with Bournemouth and the Under-21 national team.
