Starbucks' latest holiday merchandise drop sparked a wave of excitement after the release of its new 20-ounce Bearista Cold Cup on November 6. The bear-shaped tumbler sold out almost immediately after hitting store shelves.
The Bearista Cold Cup, designed as a clear bear with a lid and straw, creates the illusion of the bear wearing a green beanie — a nod to Starbucks' signature color. The company unveiled the design on Instagram on November 5, where it instantly drew strong attention from fans eager to get their hands on it.
According to fans, the cups were gone within hours, with some locations reportedly receiving only one or two units per store. Many customers voiced their frustration online, questioning Starbucks’ stock strategy and fairness to customers.
“Not cool marketing Starbucks to only have 1-2 at each store and allow your baristas to buy them before customers. You should have had additional stock for your baristas and at least 10-20 for each store,”
“Our local store received ONE,” another person wrote. “Why are you even marketing this?”
Social media discussions continued as customers accused employees of reserving cups before they became available to the public. Starbucks has not yet announced whether more Bearista Cold Cups will be restocked for the holiday season.
Starbucks faced fan backlash after its limited-edition Bearista Cold Cup sold out almost instantly, with customers criticizing the brand for low stock and uneven distribution.
