Lindy Waters hosts event to inspire Native students toward higher education
Oklahoma NBA player Lindy Waters is using his influence to motivate Native students to continue their education. While training for the upcoming season with the San Antonio Spurs, he is also organizing a special event to give students firsthand exposure to college life.
"I've been busy. Getting ready for the season with the San Antonio Spurs. I had a great camp, had an eye appointment and unfortunately they found a couple of small tears but we got that repaired. Hopefully, can make my return in the next week," Waters shared.
Waters' foundation is leading this initiative to introduce Native youth to campus experiences and academic opportunities. The program aims to help them envision higher education as an achievable goal.
"We're trying to be able to use my platform to expose them to higher education... I would want someone with the same stature, or platform to provide that for me if I was younger," Waters said.
